Scouts up for the Challenge

Date: 10th Oct 2019 Author: Stephen Allan

Twelve brave Scouts took on and won over the weekend’s wet and windy weather by completing the Expedition Challenge badge. Setting off from Paisley, over the Gleniffer Braes via Lapwing Lodge towards Lochwinnoch to the Kenmure Hill Temple overlooking Castle Semple in day one.  Day two saw the Scouts make their way back to Paisley in what can only be described as atrocious weather conditions. The weather did not dampen the enthusiasm of the Scouts. Everyone completed the expedition challenge by successfully navigating the route, setting up their tents and cooking their meals on the gas stoves. By completing this challenge badge it also supported the older Scouts to complete their Gold Chief Scouts Award, the highest award that any Scout can achieve.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
