Remembrance Sunday

Date: 8th Nov 2020 Author: Stephen Allan

For over 60 years the JNI Scout Group has climbed Ben Lomond to place a wreath at the summit. This was a tradition started by the then Scout Leader, Ian Barr, JTKB, which continues up to this day. Only due to extreme weather or this year’s virus has the climb not been possible. Ian always believed that the Scouting was best enjoyed out of doors, we, therefore, look to be at the summit next year. This year Hannah and Luke, a Scout and Explorer, from the JNI placed a wreath at the Paisley Cenotaph on behalf of Paisley & District Scouts.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
