Cubs, Scouts & Explorers take to the water

Date: 19th Sep 2019 Author: Stephen Allan

Offering something different this year the Cubs, Scouts and Explorers all took to the water at Lapwing Lodge for a night of canoeing over a fortnight. This was the opportunity to earn the initial Paddle Sports activity badge, whether in kayaks or Canadian canoes. For the Explorers this was the start of their skills development journey as they work towards their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and Queen Scouts Award which has a finale of a 4 day, 3 night canoe expedition around the coast of Argyll. For everyone taking part the night finished off with a roll and hot drink.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
