Scouting Squirrels: A Year so far of Adventure and Discovery!

As the seasons change and the year unfolds, our Scouting Squirrels have been busier than ever, diving into exciting activities, learning new skills, and, of course, having heaps of fun! From fascinating science experiments to action-packed camp adventures, let’s take a look at what they’ve been up to so far.

Science and Discovery

The Squirrels have been putting on their lab coats (well, at least in spirit!) as they worked towards earning their Science badge. Their curiosity was sparked through a series of exciting experiments:

  • Dancing Skittles & Tuning Forks – They discovered how sound is a vibration by making skittles ‘dance’ and using tuning forks to feel the unseen forces at work.
  • Magic Milk – By adding washing-up liquid to food-coloured milk, they watched in amazement as the colours dispersed like magic, showing how molecules react.
  • Balloon Inflation Trick – With just bicarbonate of soda and vinegar, they managed to blow up balloons without using their breath, proving the power of chemical reactions!

“The Squirrels have been working incredibly hard towards earning their badges this year, making fantastic progress along the way!”

March Camp 2025

Of course, no Scouting adventure would be complete without a camp! The Squirrels packed their bags and headed out for a weekend filled with laughter, teamwork, and adventure.

  • Go-Karting Fun – Speeding around the track, they cheered each other on and mastered the art of controlled chaos.
  • Scavenger Hunts – With maps in hand, they navigated their way through the great outdoors, solving clues and uncovering hidden treasures.
  • Parachute Games – Working together, they lifted, ran under, and played exciting games with a giant parachute, proving that teamwork makes the dream work!
  • Circus Skills – From balancing acts to juggling attempts, they stepped into the shoes of circus performers and gave it their best shot!

Navigators and Pancakes

The Squirrels have also been sharpening their navigation skills, learning how to read maps, follow trails, and explore the world around them. After all that adventuring, they made time for a well-earned treat – flipping and devouring some delicious pancakes! Because nothing beats a warm, golden pancake after a long day of exploring.

With so many adventures already under their belts, we can’t wait to see what the rest of the year holds for our Scouting Squirrels. One thing’s for sure – whatever they do next, it’s bound to be filled with learning, laughter, and a whole lot of fun!
